I don’t remember whose bike this was, but I do recall it was around 1986 or ’87 when Doug Polen was cleaning house travelling the country winning Suzuki contingency money. Maybe this rider’s control panel served as an inspiration when racing against Polen. The shot was taken at Blackhawk Farms, but I have no other notes on who might have come up with this humorous response to Polen’s domination.
James Gang/Hoban Brothers Racing was one of the leading teams in the 2009 Sun Trust Moto-GT Series. The team with riders Paul James and Jeff Johnson and fill in Shawn Higbee earned three podium finishes on their Buell including a win at Road America to finish fourth in the championship. One of the original Moto-GT squads the team has raced the championship so far throughout its four-year run. Interestingly James’ day job is working as director product communications for Harley-Davidson. Here’s an interview he did recently on Pit Pass Radio.
It appears from this angle that Rich Oliver (97) got the jump on the rest of the front row at the Road Atlanta 250 Grand Prix race in 1988. Starting on the front row with Oliver are John Kocinski (1), Alan Carter (2), Jimmy Filice (65) and Kork Ballington (99). Kocinski went on to win the race.
